Spot is just a reference point. There is always, always a discount from spot or else buyers or end users would have a choice of 90 million tons sitting at the port instead of waiting a few years for ole Bobby to get his act together.

Besides, why would buyers pay spot ( Platts 62% min ) when the ore is low grade.
Why wouldn't Bob just ship dirt and get the same price under your scenario?


The gov't did cancel the permits, but whatever was at the port could be shipped.....provided proof of ownership was shown. Guess ole Bobby couldn't do that.


If the veins are 67% which is almost pure Fe3O4, why do we see the super, super fines ( aka dust) and all that crushing when lumps can be shipped for a premium.
