The best news for Intel in many a year was Apple's switch to x86 processors some years ago. The worst news for Intel has been Microsoft's bumblings and rumblings and fumblings.

(Oh, and generally good news for Intel has been the Apple/Microsoft-agnostic move to Unix/Linux for servers and the like. Of course I know that OS X is BSD Unix with some stuff added on, but you all get my point. I mean barebones Unix, or as it is almost universally present as, Linux.)
