An auditor will not give you an upfront date or cost, it varies with the scope of the work. I also heard that the audited work was well advanced but then after reading the court filings, I'm not sure how much truth they is/was to that. If most of the work was done then yes it should take less time.

Serious or not has nothing to do with it, auditing isn't that black and white.
