Sergio Garcia will not compete in this week's Deutsche Bank Championship.

In an interview at Firestone three weeks ago, Garcia intimated that he wants to be fresh for the Ryder Cup and might not show at all four stops in the FedExCup Playoffs. He'll finish outside the top 55 at The Barclays today, but remain inside the top 15 in points, so he can afford a week off. "Off to NYC to watch the U.S. Open tennis & spend time with good friends. Will be nice to disconnect for a week to be ready again for Denver!," he tweeted today.
