Hangzhou is the second most congested city in China

Hangzhou yielded its title as the most congested city in China to Shanghai in the second quarter of this year, according to China's digital mapping company AutoNavi.

Beijing, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Shenyang, Chengdu and Jinan ranked third to tenth in the list of the ten most congested cities in China.

A 10-minute drive in normal road condition now takes 21.6 minutes in Shanghai, 21 minutes in Hangzhou and 20.9 minutes in Beijing.

Hangzhou extended rush-hour traffic control from May 5 to reduce congestions in downtown areas. Vehicles are allowed to enter downtown according to the last digit of their plates between 7am-9am and between 4:30pm-6:30pm.
