Regarding the proposed medical research:

I think you could find thousands of sets of correspondence like this involving networks of people in medical institutions, pharma companies, and government agencies and administrators, including top people, regarding a wide variety of medical possibilities.

How Star got selected as a target would be an interesting investigation.
