Great article! Never knew Steve Jobs took a job at Radio Shack after getting the boot as AAPL CEO. Talk about working your way back UP the corporate ladder. Then eventually starting NEXT, which AAPL bought out ten years later and Steve was back as AAPL CEO.
Apple Shack? iStores? An AAPL buy out (or GOOGLE, AMAZON, etc.) of 4,000 + RadioShack stores could be had for "pocket change" by any of these behemoths. With the upcoming iWatch and other upcoming new product classes (72" APPLE TV, etc.?), MORE APPLE showrooms are needed! NEVER, say never. It could happen...
The pinball tournament in the Oakland store? At first, idea sounds a bit corny. But what if they come up with a way to drive huge amounts of traffic into 4,000 stores, especially young people? When I grew up in the 60s and 70s, pinball was HUGE, highly competitive and addictive.
IMHO, Radio Shack will successfully reinvent itself in a way we WILL NOT see coming.
