Job Description

Momenta Pharmaceuticals is a leader in applying breakthroughs in understanding the chemistry and biology of complex molecules to the discovery, development, and commercialization of drug products. We are currently looking for a highly-motivated scientist to join our Follow-On Biologics team. This individual will play two key roles for the Follow-On Biologics program. First, they will bring a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of the application of higher-order structure [See A below] to characterizing biologics, and will be able to guide and bridge efforts in the analytics area in both Research and Development. Second, this individual will be able to take on additional leadership roles outside of higher-order structure of biologics with the goal that they can serve as the Research representative for the Follow-On Biologics programs in a CMC setting.

Responsibilities:

Designing and performing higher-order structure (HOS) experiments on various products within Momenta’s Follow-on Biologics program.

Designing HOS strategy for multiple Follow-on Biologics programs, and working between the Research and Development groups to influence the characterization strategy for Follow-on Biologics.

Designing and performing other novel physicochemical experiments within the Follow-on Biologics program as dictated by the properties of the biologic being studied.

Overseeing some of the experimental efforts within both the Research and Development organizations on HOS efforts.

Requirements:

Ph.D. degree in biophysical chemistry or a related field with 3-5 years work experience is required. Exceptional candidates may be considered with fewer years of experience.
Laboratory experience with protein structure characterization methods such as fluorescence spectroscopy, analytical ultracentrifugation, dynamic light scattering, and differential scanning calorimetry is required.
Experience in an industrial setting is highly desirable.
The candidate will have to excel in a fast-paced matrix environment, be a highly collaborative team player, be creative, self-motivated, flexible and detail oriented.
Strong organizational, written and oral communication skills and ability to work in teams are essential. Will have the opportunity to present and discuss their work in various forums.
This will be a hands-on position with significant experimental work and data analysis required.
Must be flexible to changing priorities based on experimental results.
Experience with biologics formulations and/or formulation development is optional.
Applicant may be required to interface with external vendors for relevant testing.
