Nowhere in the PD report (reported by CBS) does it mention the name of Michael Brown, just that a shoplifting call came in to the PD, an officer responded within three minutes, and the officer took information from a store clerk and a witness.
I presume the video of two men leaving the convenience store and one shoving the clerk - who for some reason tried to prevent them from leaving the store - has a time-stamp which can easily be connected to the time a report of shoplifting was called in to the PD.
Regarding the video of MB "paying" for something, the store clerk told the policeman who responded to the shoplifting call that the man did not have enough money to pay for what he wanted to buy. It is entirely conceivable MB put money on the counter, as shown in a video, but it wasn't enough for what he wanted to purchase.
There are many outstanding questions and lots of rumors, but CBS was able to quote a Ferguson PD report of shoplifting at a convenience store...why the convenience store's attorney said there was no call to the police of shoplifting I don't know.
