Not at all. What is the purpose of a patent? Answer: Protection of intellectual property rights, and ownership of those rights or invention. The right to license the technology. The right to sue another entity that infringes upon the patent.
The claim being made is that KMAG has some sort of bleeding edge (market invisible) innovative technology, but hasn't obtained a patent for it. As in patents don't matter - but they do matter in the business world. Without patent protection, another company can claim ownership by filing a patent of their own. No company operates without patent protection for products they invent.
So where are the KMAG patents for the claimed technology of the past 2 yrs? Answer: There are none. Why? Because KMAG has no new technology.
