I watched the awards (it was really awful on so many levels), Stan wasn't their in person, he left a recorded video message to present the award. Stan wasn't able to ask anyone what POW! stands for. POW! didn't get much of a mention during the ceremony either. Hurd got her award first, POW! as a sponsor was supposed to be mentioned before Stan awarded her, but I think they used Stan Lee's name instead. I guess it was for the best, no one probably new what POW! meant anyways. Hurd's award might have been the most important, but, Levar Burton's was probably the real highlight of the evening. The audience was really engaged while he was on stage. He sang the Reading Rainbow song and the audience joined in.
I think one of the biggest problems with the ceremony is, they rarely mentioned who the nominees were, or the winners name, just their work. I only recognized a handful of the nominees (Cosplay Piano, and Future Hero were nominees).
Except for Gale Hurd and Levar Burton, the awards seemed to be for the independent stuff, not mainstream.
I hope POW! didn't put any money into it.
