Actually, no one does it on public land. Most of the gold recovery systems for sal on the internet are scams or the involve placer recovery systems. There are a lot of recreational placer miners who use all kinds of things from gold pans to sluices to small dredges.

Hard rock mining with drilling and blasting is completely different. You have to be able to drill holes to put the black powder in. I don't know if you have ever tried to drill a hole in solid rock using a hammer and a star bit, but I have. It was just for fun in a contest. It is very slow and makes a lot of noise. Someone banging with a hammer doesn't go unnoticed. There is also a big difference between a gun shot and a timed blast. Most of the early miners went after gold in quartz veins. They would crush the quartz and use a gravity separation to remove the gold. Later they used cyanide to clean up the tailings.

You are so out of your league trying to discuss this. I am speaking as a mining engineer with 45 years of experience.
