The 3M/Nanosys presentation is but one of 12,500 at the ACS convention (not a lot of room to 'stand-out'), hence the PR, which states they have mitigated the problems by encapsulation...problem solved. If-by-chance QMC were to become a sub-contract supplier to Nanosys, our QD's would logically be encapsulated as well. I believe Drs'Jabbour, Wong & Hollingsworth have also done some work in this area , if my memory serves me correctly. In any event, I feel reasonably confident these issues come as no surprise to our QMC brainiacs & have been duly addressed, either directly by means of photomask (or other encapsulation tech) or in the end-user manufacturing process. On the issue of green QD's; I see that QDV also announced they now have (to one degree or another) a green QD...& although no specific mention was made, 3M/Nanosys appears to have a green QD as well...I'll leave it for others who have expertise in this field to make the technical comparisons between the three. For reference, here are the limited QDV green QD specs (unlike QMCs' PR , no mention of QY or bandwidth was given by QDV): http://spie.org/x106573.xml And I have no specs on a 3M/Nanosys green QD. If nothing else, we-too have breached the Green Valley of Death & remain competitive, if not superior, by virtue of the numerable stand-alone QMC TQD & gQD characteristics, not to mention our "proprietary automated mass-production system".
