fuagf -- given all that is/remains at stake and the current immediacies of the situation, as well as/against the backdrop of all he's already done/screwed up (and why, and how), it can be a bit difficult, as fraught as such thoughts always are, not to have within view some very dark thoughts about what might best be done now in re al-Maliki

he is directly responsible for the current situation, including our now having to respond, and he is standing directly in the way of getting done what must be done to stabilize/resolve/move forward from the current situation -- on both points/levels, strategically, not just tactically
