When you have a company with thousands of employees and dozens of divisions, it's not uncommon for information to not be fully shared.
If you actually ran a major organization, you would know how this works.
TMMI announced a research project. They have not moved on to selling actual products. So why would an IR guy in charge of thousands of bits of information be familiar with a research project unless he happened to be part of it?
I am sure if you harassed him enough, he may call someone who knows what is going on. But why would he bother?
