Retail shorts would. Death spiral shorts cover from the company, so they actually drive the price down when they dump. They don't care because they get a discount to the lows. They dump into promos, then dump into the end of promos so they can buy cheap from the company.
It's pretty obvious from the chart how these pumper dumper death spirals operate. Run up on "news", sell short, run down on dumping, cover. Death spirals just want volume. Like any other dumper, the higher the price, the more they make, but because they cover from the company at a discount to whatever the low price is, they always make money on any shares they can sell.
