I think they're just playing it extremely safe so they don't violate any non-disclosure agreements or get in legal trouble. They are under intense scrutiny in a highly regulated industry, and it's standard procedure.

Ever since Thomas James came aboard, they have been even more careful. I e-mailed NAAG with very general questions about MSA (just process, nothing even close to insider info-related) and they forwarded me right to his e-mail, in which he e-mailed me back fervently imploring me to not ask anything for risk of something being misconstrued as inside info.
