I agree that ECDC/Student Connect is, no joke,...not saying that ECDC/Student Connect, Verizon purport to controlling violence in a school. Just considering the broader interpretation.
Children may be subjected to violence if they accidentally get off at the wrong stop, or miss getting on a bus. Some consider the school bus as an extention of the school experience. Some consider child abduction in the general category of extreme risk. Its all a matter of interpretation.
ECDC/Student Connect is a child /bus location monitor, that signals parents by text as to when and where the child gets on and off the bus. Maybe it could one day be modified to do all kinds of things in the school, but right now, it helps enhance a students safety by notifying irregular insidences that are signs of potential danger....(relative to bus transport).

Other considerations: Child falls asleep on bus on way home while temperatures soar. Child falls asleep on bus during a freeze. Parent is held up by a traffic pileup or bus is stalled on a bridge. Bus has a flat tire. Bus changes point of destination due to a tornado. Parents want to know these things. Transportation administrators want to know these things. Law enforcement wants to know these things. Some degree of abstraction might offer a clue as to why this is so. And why time is essential with children's safety. For these reasons I could grasp the concept of the this broader interpretation, all above being IMO.
