On June 3, 2014, InterDigital, Inc.’s patent licensing subsidiaries entered into a patent license agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (“Samsung”). The multi-year agreement resolves all pending litigation between the companies. The royalty-bearing license agreement sets forth terms covering the sale by Samsung of 3G, 4G and certain future generation wireless products. The agreement provides Samsung the ability to terminate certain rights and obligations under the license for the period after 2017 but has the potential to provide a license to Samsung for a total of ten years.

Samsung enters into Network Infrastructure Global Framework Agreement with Vodafone
on Feb 27, 2014

Samsung signs a major supply contract as part of Vodafone’s Project Spring investment programme
SEOUL, Korea - February 27, 2014 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a provider of mobile broadband network solutions, today announced the signing of a global framework agreement with Vodafone Group Plc, one of the world's largest telecommunication companies. Under the agreement, Samsung will supply 2G, 3G, and 4G network infrastructure and solutions to Vodafone.

This framework agreement supports Vodafone's organic investment programme, Project Spring, which is designed to accelerate its plans to establish stronger network and service differentiation for its customers.

This global long-term contract, which can be accessed by all of Vodafone's markets, demonstrates Samsung's ongoing commitment to expansion of its Network Infrastructure business on a worldwide scale. The agreement marks a significant step in the two companies' strategic partnership in the network infrastructure field.

As part of the contract, Samsung will deploy 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations, including all associated systems and network support services, as well as Samsung's latest Smart Networks technology in selected Vodafone markets.

"Samsung is delighted to agree to the global framework agreement with Vodafone. This is a meaningful milestone for us to show our technological leadership in mobile networks and an opportunity to grow our business in the world." said Youngky Kim, President and Head of Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. "With this agreement, Samsung will provide dedicated support to Vodafone for their networks around the world."

Samsung is accelerating a globalization plan of its Networks Business by increasing business discussions with global mobile operators, mainly based in Europe. Building on this, Samsung founded Samsung Networks Europe (SNE) in 2011 to be the center of its European Networks Business. SNE has grown and now delivers marketing, sales, as well as technical support for the region.

Samsung's innovative network infrastructures are backed by more than 35 years of experience and leadership in developing and commercializing global telecom technologies. Based on its wide range of field-experience, Samsung has already successfully partnered with many leading mobile service providers, helping them to implement the most advanced networks and differentiate their service offerings.
