I also have this concern, at least in the short-term. California has been announcing ever tightening water restrictions. Would they be able to commit water to growing crops in the desert when established communities and farms lack sufficient water supplies? 400,000 acres of agricultural land in that state have not been replanted due to the drought. I have also been wondering if this drought is impacting the Mesquite Lake Project or has impacted the Maricopa project in Arizona. On the other hand, if it can be established that GKG can d be grown without much water, it could support the idea of GKG as a viable option in a new, drier climate. Regardless, this is a research project and will not lead to commercial opportunities for a while.
