I saw the La Jolla news after I posted the "fuzzy history" lesson. One of the things I recall about GCS-100 has to do with the size of the molecules made from the citrus pectin. The molecules had a broad range of sizes. GALT's molecules are much more uniform in size. What La Jolla's PR suggests is that they have isolated or separated the molecules into more uniform sizes. For something to be digested when taken orally the molecular size needs to be smaller than when given by IV. I am not aware of the molecular size of the GR-MD-02 but GM-CT-01 (sorry I got these drug names wrong on the last post) was too large to effectively pass from the digestive tract into the blood stream via oral administration. I talked to Anatoly about this subject several years ago & he indicated it was something they planned to work on but were focused on some liver compound at the time.
