Fords internal corp turf battles from various regions around the country within upper management is what almost killed this company off-until Mulally saved them. Mulally drove different Ford models to work everyday and studied their mechanics-layouts, engine power-etc...basically he was analyzing them for strengths and weaknesses. Therefore he was able to redesign and engineer Fords cars from the ground up-and he did this very early on one of the first things he did when hired. I knew Mulally from Boeing where I vested for many years-knew he would turn around Ford which I knew would be easy for him. We're talking about making the most sophisticated airliners in the world to making autos-not even a challenge for him. When he leveraged the Ford symbol for financing-it was brilliant like the man. The only way Ford prospers after his exit is if he was able to instill his fundamental principles and style upon management. If they fail to follow his path that he left them with- they will more than likely go the route of GM.

So I went deep when I thought it was close to bottom-and held it until tomorrow.

Alans gone- I'm gone.
