There were a couple of people who put it on their old trucks or cars, and claimed it gave them like 20 or 30% better mileage. I have been wondering if the controls of those vehicles was less complex, so that the hydrogen unit didn't have as much trouble homing in on a good operating point. Todays vehicles use oxygen and speed sensors that adjust the fuel/air mixture.

"The cars computer has only been programmed with information regarding regular fuels (whatever it was designed for). When you make an effiicient HHO generator, you are injecting a LOT more oxygen in to the engine (which is actually GOOD, but the computer thinks something is wrong). The computer thinks the engine isn't working properly and adds more fuel to burn the extra oxygen. If you don't add an EFIE or other electronic device, you could actually lose mileage with an HHO gen."

If the car or MG set microprocessor is active, then it will fight the adjustment of hydrogen. Hopefully the diesel generator doesn't have an oxygen sensor, and if it does, maybe they will allow the use of a EFIE chip:
"The EFIE is the acronym for Electronic Fuel Injection Enhancer. Why is this important? If you are using HHO generator to catalyze gas efficiency, don’t be surprised if your car is using more fuel as a result. Each vehicle is equipped with a computer (ECU) to ensure that the vehicle is running as it should. When you introduce a gas saver device, the HHO gas is integrated into the engine.
Good so far?
Well, here’s the problem. If the computer in your car feels the extra oxygen injected into its engine, it attempts to balance out the equation by ejecting more fuel. That’s an anathema of what the HHO cell gas savers are trying to do.
The EFIE is the electronic circuit solution to prevent the car from overcompensating."
