Talk about phlegmatic!

Wow! I think that's the first time I've ever used that word!

In any case, I was referring to the board's response to Ms. Starkweather's abstract -- the link to which I provided back in post #10949 -- and to which I expected, without any doubt, a flurry of posts of orgasmic intensity!

But, alas, no! Not even the sound of a stifled yawn!

Seriously, talk about a tough audience! Angie ups and reports how she randomly selected 30 people with back pain averaging 8 -- somewhere in the neighborhood of an open fracture -- and she takes 15 of them, calmares them, and at one and three weeks they report pain averaging only around ONE -- somewhere in the range of a two day old stubbed toe! The fifteen shams continue their suffering, disabled lives while the calmare gang goes out and signs up for break dancing lessons!

Not to mention the shams no doubt continued in the throes of that horrible old opioid dependence while those lucky enough to get calmarized reduced their opioid intake by fifty per cent!

Now I know that with CTTC it's probably pretty easy to get jaded -- what with their long history of baldfaced lies, misdeeds, misdirection, etc, etc -- and doubt any kind of good news that might come along.

And in this case, I recognize how someone's suspicions might be particularly aroused when, in some powerpoint presentation somewhere, Angie managed to change the results from five star miraculous to full bore mediocre (see previous post #10949).

And goodness knows, one would have thought CTTC would have flooded the wires with press releases about her findings! But instead, all we see is Angie's less than enthusiastic, guardedly optimism quote about prospects for "short term" pain relief -- and even that went to a limited audience at some microfinance conference. But, hey, let's face it, that's Conrad's fault, right? And if dumb were dirt, Conrad could probably cover two or three acres -- so what more would you expect?

But still, when you're in the desert and a drop of rain falls from the sky, I would think even the most faint could muster a small cheer to the event!
