Warrel and Thottathil have submitted an patent application about the synthesis of taxane compounds on June 30, 2010, for which a provisional application No. 61/360,135 was issued. This application was revised under No. 13/170,830 on June 28, 2011 (published as application US 2012/0004429 on January 5, 2013). These two patent applications form the basis for the PTC patent application, for which Genta is assingee. The applicants, or their representative patent lawyers, submitted on June 29, 2011 for a worldwide patent application at the WIPO, published under WO2012/003199 on January 05, 2012, to get a patent in IPC C07D 493. Patent title: "Preparation of tesetaxel and related compounds and corresponding synthesis intermediate".

The applicants also submitted a patent application No. 13/455,455 on April 20, 2012, published under US 2012/0220634 on Aug 30, 2012.

After Genta filled for chapter 7 (at the beginn of August 2012), one of the Genta investors, Tang Capital, seems to have catched for possible usable assets at Genta. A subsidary of Tang Capital, GFV LLC, has probably paid for the fees, associated with the patent application examination:

That's seems to be the reason, that now a valid, issued patent was issued to GFV LLC as assignee. The three mentioned patent applications (No. 61/360,135, No. 13/170,830 and No. 13/455,455) have resulted into a proven, to be patentable patent, that was issued under US 8697892 and published at April 15, 2014 (that's 2 month ago) to be used in IPC C07D317/70 and C07D407/00.
