Yep. Tullow is marching northward, with sights on Etom in the string of pearls, after reporting "100 metres of net oil pay in good quality sandstone reservoirs" with Agete-1:

Africa Oil CEO Keith Hill stated: 'We are looking forward to the results of the new basin opening wells which have the potential to unlock significant value in terms of new prospects and resources. The ongoing drilling in the discovered basin in Northern Kenya has been quite helpful in understanding the distribution of the best reservoir facies and will no doubt be enhanced by the ongoing 3D seismic survey. We remain very bullish in not only the existing discoveries but in the remaining prospects in the discovered basin in Northern Kenya such as Etom, the largest remaining prospect along the Western 'String of Pearls' trend, which will be drilled in the third quarter of this year."

Africa Oil provides operational update and first quarter results (14 May 2014)

The map below shows where Agete-1 and Etom are in relation to ERHC's Block 11A:

Notice the Turkwel Basin in western Block 13T extending upward into Block 10BA. According to Scotforth Limited, the Turkwel Basin looks to be as promising as the Lokichar Basin:

Kenya: Turkwel Brief

Scotforth's continuing exploration of EARS suggests that Turkwel in Kenya will be one of the next petroliferous basins. Basin-wide RSDD-H reconnaissance has identified Hydrocarbon Lead Indicators ("HLIs") there, analogous to those in the nearby Lokichar Basin. The first image below illustrates Turkwel's geographic setting whilst the second is an example of anomalous RSDD-H response character within it. The illustrated RSDD-H anomaly locates in the Tullow Oil / Africa Oil Block 13T, measures approximately 75km2 and as a new exploration focus area ("EFA") appears ready for exploration progression into discrete leads and prospects with related risk reduction and Petroleum Resource Potential assessment.

TURKWEL BASIN RSDD-H ANOMALY

This RSDD-H Iso-photo density display ("IPD") is just one of numerous new Exploration Focus Areas identified by Scotforth within EARS basins. Most of these EFAs are as yet untested, many are probably not yet on the exploration prospect books of licence holders and operating JV partnerships and several such prospective terrains are still unlicensed.

This particular Turkwel anomaly (red/black through hot orange) is large, surrounded by poorly prospective non-anomalous terrains (yellow through green and blue) and is generally analogous to patterns observed under similar RSDD-H imagery processing in neighbouring Lokichar.

Effecting and accelerating successful EARS frontier basin exploration progression is now possible using Scotforth's established surveying capacities in this region.

Scotforth Turkwel Brief

Regarding Agete-1 (mentioned at the outset), Scotforth's technology proved accurate:

Lokichar Basin - Kenya: Exploration Progress
13 Dec 13

Scotforth has been surveying Kenyan Basins for the past two years. In the newly proven Lokichar Basin petroleum province RSDD-H successfully identified the Ngamia discovery in Block 10BB post-factum and has subsequently, prior to drilling, accurately predicted the Twiga South, new Ekales and Agete discoveries which have been part of the exciting exploration campaign in Block 13T which is operated by Tullow Oil in partnership with Africa Oil.

RSDD-H analysis also predicts that the Agete discovery will prove to contain new satellite discoveries and field extensions in the future (as shown in this RSDD-H “IPD” image) and that the conventionally established prospectivity of the Etom complex further to the North will also prove productive.

Scotforth is positioned to provide prospectivity insights into other Kenyan basins and licence blocks as it continues its programme.

Lokichar Basin - Exploration Progress

I would love to see one of these for the Lotikipi Basin. Who knows, maybe ERHC already has.

Closeology is getting closer and looking good. Looking foward to hearing/seeing the results from the 2D seismic shoot to be completed this summer for Block 11A. - LT
