the former debt holders in this deal could have been paid off ages ago, in a refinancing, and volk could be sitting there now, bombing the bid, loading up a bunch of folks he needs to "settle" with, before the big, huge run.
that's why it matters.
if it's volk doing the bid-whacking, and all official debts are paid otherwise, he's merely directing traffic on the launch pad.
