They should be selling exclusive rights to use the patent for a certain period of time, not selling the company. If Google or whomever has exclusive rights to use one of a kind technology, that is better than a buy out of an entire company for Google. It allows them to change technology in the future if they find something that is better, which there will be, of course. It would be better for epgl because they would be allowed to continue to develop other technologies and sell the rights to use their other patents and they get to keep their patents.
