As others indicated, it can take weeks to get the new shares sent from reverse splits & other reorgs by small cos. It even happens for just a symbol change with no reverse split or other reorg! I think it saves them money. It seems ridiculous that the SEC lets them do this in a "modern" age, but they do. Of course, the SEC often does loads of crazy stuff.
