How about performance per watt? Is it worth recompiling all of that software?


Don't know about the performance per watt, but recompiling software would be pretty straightforward for Google. It isn't as though they'd have old undocumented software around they want to keep or don't have enough money. Red Hat have been recompiling something like ten thousand packages for ARM with basically a man and a dog resources as far as I can make out.
