Have you ever received emails from people whose signatures state, "this email is is intended only for the recipient unless otherwise authorized" or some other such statement of confidentiality? Nearly every professional I know has that in the signature.

Of course. We use signatures like that in my office. Does that mean the information I send to someone can't be shared with anyone other than the original recipient? There'd be a lot of people in serious trouble if they didn't delete the email thread in all replies and forwards. Weak argument.
