Here is why someone would start a company using the symbol in it's name. Suppose you had a public company and you wanted to siphon off as much profit resulting from a new LED lighting business as possible without having to disclose it to the shareholders.... how could you do it?

One way would be to start a straw-company... one where you didn't have to disclose ownership.. and then run all or part of the business through it.. marking up parts and/or labor during the pass through. Then all that would show on the public company books would be less profits and you could still pretend you weren't taking any salaries or you could pay family members or do pretty much whatever you wanted.

Alternately, you could divert business you were soliciting as the public company to the straw company and never let the revenues hit the public company. Since the public company is losing money... if you knew that it would never amount to anything, you could work at building your "next" venture on the side while continuing to work at getting more funding for the losing public company.

That's one very rational scenario as to why that LLC exists. I doubt very much if someone is trying to compete using that name. BLDW isn't big enough or established enough to compete with.
