If specimen gold are 2x spot prices why didn't Best go back and get all those nuggets remaining in the black channel after the end of WWII?

Cost of wages were up so high that it would have been unfeasible economically to mine the motherlode of nuggets commanding prices of 2x over spot?

I do not buy that story there one iota.
