You can do the same pledge your shares now while they sill have paper value. Find a nice charity that you don't like very much and pledge your shares this week and you will get the full deduction on your tax returns next year. Let the charity wait for Sterling to make good on his promises while you have done your civic duty and they blame him for neutralizing your generous contribution.
