Retail shorting of trips is a forum myth - it just doesn't happen.

No, we weren't talking retail. Do I have to say it again? RETAIL? There's plenty of prop shops that brag about using their own capital to trade all markets, including microcaps. Must be like taking candy ...

BTW, your argument has whiskers. There's quite a few retail traders; albeit, not many, who short pennies, including subs. Yes, prohibitively expensive for most retail investors.
