Starting work= If there is a doubt in shareholder's minds, you need to inform and educate. Not just hang something in space and expect everyone to completely understand it.
If you're going to use social media- USE IT. Can't get enough info on a tweet? How about FB? How about a corporate blog? (I can show examples of other communicating companies using some or all of the above).
PR this week? Was already promised last week and not delivered. If not delivered this week.......... (called "digging yourself a hole"). If there is any chance you're not going to a PR out..... DON'T SAY ANYTHING!!! And if you say it, you better provide it!!
FYI- Markets closed on Good Friday- PR tomorrow is worthless.
JB rough around the edges? In the words of another CEO, just this week: I know there are people that are better at doing things than I am. My job is to hire them and let them do what they are good at.
IMO, that is the definition of a good leader- one who can delegate and to the right people and does. If he can't do that one thing, he will not be successful in anything else. Shut the door, turn off the lights, walk away. A public CEO must either be good at dealing with his shareholders, or have someone in place that is.
On the R/S- I know from experience that there is a vetting process. For one CEO I communicate with- it was intense and it was thorough (both personally and fiscally). He wasn't sure it was going to be allowed. This kind of information needs to be conveyed to shareholders and the ramifications of either scenario. If not, you create an atmosphere of uncertainty, unrest and instability, and that leads to a stagnant company and a stagnant PPS.
