"Toys In The Attic"

Home Video Walmarts Canada Release: April 15, 2014

Cast (Voices): Forest Whitaker, Joan Cusack, Cary Elwes

Director: Jiri Barta

Writers: Edgar Dutka (screenplay), English Version, Vivian Schilling

About:
"Toys in the Attic" is a visually-stunning, stop-motion animated feature from Czech director Jiri Barta, that won the New York International Children's Film Festival last year, in its original, Czech-language version with English subtitles. Hannover House and Eurocine International have begun re-recording and re-voicing the film into English, and plan to pursue several awards opportunities.

Combining elements from both Toy Story and Tim Burton, this spectacularly crafted film brings to life a magical and unseen world in the attic of a Cold-War era home.

Vivian Schilling is writing, producing and directing the English-language version of "Toys in the Attic." Some heavy-hitting voice talent is involved in the project. Forest Whitaker is lending his talent to Teddy Bear. Joan Cusack's quirky vocal cords will be portraying the mechanical mouse. Cary Elwes will be voicing the marionette Prince Charming.

The English-language version is being recorded at Post Haste Sound in Los Angeles and BAM Studios in Chicago.

Synopsis:
Originally produced in the Czech language, the meticulously crafted animated feature is set in a magical world of toys and knick-knacks stored in the attic of a home in Prague. Following the symbolism of the Cold War era that impacted director Barta and the Czech Republic, the world of the attic is divided into the land of happy toys in the west and the land of evil in the east. The despotic Head of State rules over the evil empire of the east with a band of sinister minions, insects and rotted vegetables. When the lovely "Buttercup" is kidnapped and held prisoner by The Head, it is up to her friends - a teddy bear, a mechanical mouse and marionette puppet - to cross the international boundary and attempt their daring rescue.
