My guess is as good as yours. The top 10 on my watch list are all down tremendously. Wish I could buy them all now but sadly... Can't.

The easiest answer is this - the whole market has been down for various reasons. The biotech market naturally got hit harder due to its speculative nature. We are seeing a sustained biotech selloff because of frustration and people are seeking stocks that are less volatile.

On the flip side, when the biotech market turns around, it will rally hard as the shorts exit their plays and the cycle of optimism begins again. My hunch tells me that this is the tail end of the pain here and that now would be the exact wrong time to sell. Short profit taking begins soon.
