Not true. I have never taken any Dividends in cash, and have had my entire block of GE shares on free dividend reinvestment without any commissions the entire time. There are a lot of GE investors just like me, who got into GE back when it looked so attractive in the $35 - $40 range, after dropping back from the $55 - $60 range (GE traded above $60 in August 2000). So, folks who have held a significant block of GE shares that were acquired 10-20 years ago, are mostly still quite a bit under water, even if they steadily reinvested all dividends without any commissions. The shares picked up below $10, and in the teens, were not sufficient for most folks to bring their cost per share down to where they will be even any time soon. That is, unless Mr. Immelt can take the stock back up to the mid-$30's at some point.

Just look at the chart since Mr. Immelt took over. Very sad and, quite frankly, inexcusable.
