About Hemp Route

Hemp Route Limited is a subsidiary of Yasheng Group, an agriculture company based in China’s Gansu Province. Yasheng is one of China’s leading food producers with six major product segments including field crops, vegetables, fruit, specialty crops, seeds, and poultry. The company recently decided to increase its hemp production in response to growing international awareness of the benefits of hemp, such as:

Hemp is good for the environment. Cotton production accounts for over one fourth of worldwide pesticide use. Hemp, on the other hand, requires no pesticides. It also outgrows weeds, eliminating the need for herbicides. The primary advantage of cotton is that it requires less labor to harvest and is cheaper to produce than hemp, but consumers and governments are increasingly willing to pay a premium for environmentally friendly products. Hemp cultivation also requires much less water than cotton and is an effective rotation crop because it improves the soil with each harvest.
Clothes made from hemp have major advantages over other materials. Hemp fiber contains natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties, making them an ideal material for socks, diapers, scrubs, hospital bed sheets and field attire. Mold, odor, athlete’s foot and even staph infections can potentially be mitigated or avoided altogether with hemp clothing. The material is also UV and fire resistant, and wicks moisture well. Another selling point is that general enthusiasm for cannabis makes hemp clothing fashionable in many markets.
Hemp seeds are remarkably nutritious. Hemp seeds, oil pressed from the seeds and hemp protein powder are some of the only vegetarian sources of omega 3 fatty acids, which help prevent heart disease and can reduce inflammation. The seeds are also high in protein, and, more importantly, are a “complete” protein with all the amino acids requires by the human body, which is unusual for non-animal protein sources.
Cannabidiols (CBDs), a chemical compound of hemp, have significant potential medical applications. This area requires further research, but early findings have been promising. Studies suggest that CBDs can be effective in the treatment of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and certain cancers.
