I think, but am not sure, that if a broker/dealer accepted to sell the shares for the client and the client is unable to deliver then it is the broker/dealer that is on the line for delivery.

Money has to come from somewhere for us to make out like bandits, someone with deep pockets needs to get stuck with the bill

Anyway, we have one for the textbooks here
