North American Gold Inc.: Drilling Commences at Barsele

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jun 21, 2004) - North
American Gold Inc. (NAU - TSXV) and Minmet plc. (Dublin: MNT.L)
are pleased to provide an update on the activities on the joint
venture properties of Barsele and Norra located in the
Vasterbotten District, near the town of Storuman in northern
Sweden.
Barsele Project
Phase I core drilling has commenced on the Central Zone which is
located within the area covered by the Barsele agreement (see
North American Gold release dated November 3, 2003). The drill
campaign will comprise a minimum of 2,000 meters and will drill 5
to 8 widely spaced holes in the first phase. The areas selected
for initial drilling are targeting zones of significant gold
intercepts defined by previous drilling. Five holes have been
drilled to date and assay results are awaited.
Phase I of the drill program is designed to achieve several
goals:
1. Verify gold mineralization from prior drilling;
2. Test North American's geologic model for the Central Zone
deposit;
3. Explore previously untested portions of the Central Zone
deposit;
4. Determine if the Central Zone, Avan Zone (north of Central)
and the Skiransen Zone (south of Central) connect.
Norra Project
The ongoing work program is currently conducting ground
geophysics on the Norra deposit to determine the location of
structures and continuance of the known mineralized zone.
Geological sampling and mapping are in progress and will be used
in conjunction with the geophysical information, along with prior
drilling results to develop drill targets for the gold-rich
massive sulphide mineralization previously defined at Norra. The
drill campaign for the up coming year will comprise of a minimum
of 1,000 meters of drilling.
