Would Exxon sell out their 40% of Block 1 to Addax only to turn around and buy Chevrons 45.1% and OPERATORSHIP of block 1?

This post by Oilphant has me wondering why he boldened the "C" in the below post:

How many will not heed Circe's advice, only to C that they're no longer in boat.

....keep in mind that XOM was the team doing the exploration work in the JDZ. First in...and probably has had the best look. Then we have the extraordinarily long long look by XOM's top management trying to decide whether or not they would apply their 25% rights in the JDZ. It took far too long for this to occur IMHO....and no way would top brass have to sit on the island while trying to wait. Much larger intentions IMHO.

Do we "know" that XOM and SEO were at odds, or was this strictly message board rumorings? Did XOM and SEO work out a plan that would have XOM as the predominant operator in the JDZ? That would certainly be within XOM's mo and it would be easy enough to bring SEO in on the plan with an eventual deal of some sort.

Capturing operatorship of block 1 would certainly bring light to this Oilphant post:

BB: XOM sacrificed one piece in order to achieve greater leverage.

I get every impression from Oilphants postings that XOM has some serious intentions in the JDZ despite the casual look that has them fully departing from the JDZ.

Something to ponder.....as we saunter our way toward the next step of this prolooooonged journey.
