Reasons for picks - challenge.

Given the market negativity, I decided to go with a couple of of beaten-up big caps ADCT and CMCSA, rather than going all microcap. In retrospect, I'd put in the ultra short Russell 2000 play or oil short, but too late for that. I'm also personally playing microcaps that are extremely low float, as these tend to move independently of the market and are very special circumstances, but they were not eligible because of the tiny volume, e.g., PHPG and ORFR.

ADCT - is a large communications infrastructure company, which was beaten down by announcement of a CD offering which may be used for an acquisition. Prior acquisition has been accretive so I think this is overplayed on the down side.

CMCSA - everyone hates this stock and it's beaten down event though it's mistakes are miniscule. Cable is still king and new VOD, TIVO options, portable DVR, etc., will find this a big winner over the next year.

FPP and ASPN

Oil and gas microcap plays FPP and ASPN, both are at multi-year lows, despite record energy prices. One of these days, microcap O&G plays will be discovered by a half dozen or more besides myself LOL, and maybe even acquired. They run very fast. Both are small float and have high success rates in operations. Perception of replacement reserves, as well as direction of energy prices, play into the picture.

DFNS - is my favorite extremely speculative play over the next few months. Israeli defense, armor, multi-faceted play. It recently was hurt with notice of restating filings, but it proved to be minor technicalities, with virtually no affect on the numbers. Israel will continue to ramp up its defense spending and the company is working hard to make inroads into the US and European defense markets.

ZINC - as a contrarian, ZINC related plays look good to me, as the metal is at a low. I like this one, in terms of its operations. China is the wildcard. Production vs consumption predictions by the "experts" are all over the place, so nobody really knows anything LOL. I like that type of environment and figure if I can buy at a low, I've got a decent shot at a big gainer.
