Some DD on the Waste Management connection;

If you watch the 1st pit video greenmonster "Jockee" put out, you will notice Johny Zornes talking about the guy in the background who is partnering with Bayou State Trucking to provide 200 trucks per day combined with BST's 100 trucks per day to meet the demand for hauling product from the pit. This guy is the son of the last captain of Vince Lombardi's football team, Vincent Promuto.

PHILADELPHIA - Waste Management Inc. is entering the recycling and solid waste transfer business in New York City through a newly formed partnership.
Under the agreement, Waste Management said it will own a majority interest in the partnership to be known as Waste Management of New York City L.P. Vincent and Salvatore Promuto will own a minority interest.
The partnership will operate an existing commercial transfer station and recycling business in the Bronx. The transfer station previously was operated by SPM Environmental Inc., owned by the Promutos.
The company anticipates that the materials processed at the Bronx facility will continue to be managed and disposed of at sites throughout the East and Northeast, including facilities operated by Waste Management.

THE CITY; Mayor Picks Panel On Garbage Plan

Mayor Koch selected the members of a committee to advise the city on its program to sell steam and electricity generated by burning garbage.
The $2 billion plan calls for the city to build eight to 10 ''resource recovery plants'' over the next decade to replace diminishing landfill space.
Sanitation Commissioner Norman Steisel will be chairman of the committee. Also on the panel are three representatives of the carting industry: Vincent Promuto, president of the New York Waste and Energy Corporation; Frank Chiaia, owner of the Classic Sanitation Company, and Rocco Piccininni, owner of the Empire Rubbish Company.
The Mayor said that a steady supply of garbage was needed for fuel, and since private carting concerns pick up a third, or about 8,000 tons, of the city's garbage each day, the city must control its disposal. (AP)
