"whether Girardi was a good fit"

In terms of on-field, day-to-day, Florida was as good a place for Girardi as any. His style is suited to non-superstar laden rosters with heavy doses of young players. They're more willing to accept controlling and disciplinarian tendencies. Also, Girardi's value as a teacher with attention to detail is most valuable on a roster like the Marlins.

Girardi's weaknesses, his stubbornness, his lack of acumen in player personnel matters, his inflexibility, and his controlling and detail-obsessing, would be an even worse fit on a mature ballclub.

Truth is, Girardi will have to grow and evolve if he's going to do anything other than bounce around. On the Marlins, it's mostly only the GM and execs he's pissing off, since they have no veteran players, but on other clubs, he'd almost certainly get himself in trouble with one or more veterans.

He could have a great career. It's up in the air at this point, though. Whether he'll succeed in developing some humility, come to see and acknowledge his weaknesses and faults, and invest in growing rather than trying to belligerently defend his status quo. If he doesn't mature, fireworks will follow him. If he does mature, he should have a long and successful managerial career with some stability, rather than bouncing around.
