California might give relief to branding issues in cannabis sector
http://www.pe.com/articles/marijuana-824238-state-california.html
Officially trademarking marijuana is a tricky legal task. The federal government still considers it an illegal drug and won’t grant patents or trademarks for pot or anything made from it. Cannabis brands fear they are at risk of being copied. So marijuana businesses in California – eyeing what could become a $6.4 billion industry – have turned to the state government for help.

Industrial Hemp Farming Heads to L.A. County
by Jacob Cannon | December 30, 2016
The company Cannabis Sativa, Inc. is set to acquire 49 percent of a Los Angeles County, California property with the intention of cultivating industrial hemp. The industrial hemp growing operation will not be headed by Cannabis Sativa, Inc. Instead, the company plans to lease its new property to a hemp farmer. All operations are set to operate within the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, also known as Proposition 64.
Section 9 of Proposition 64 allows for the cultivation of industrial hemp. According to the text, “The initiative enables legal production of industrial hemp under California’s existing hemp law, which has been in suspense pending approval by the state Attorney General and federal government.” Now that industrial hemp farming will be permitted in California, countless economic opportunities will become available, and the positive effects this could have on our environment are limitless.
The President of Cannabis Sativa, Inc., David Tobias, shared his company’s excitement in a press release. “We are excited to play a role in what we anticipate will be one of California’s first hemp farms under Prop 64.” The plan is for the cannabis grow operations to start as soon as January of 2017. The organic industrial hemp that is cultivated at the site will be used to produce various high quality products.
Cannabis Sativa, Inc. is a company that focuses on branding and marketing the best, legal products made from hemp and cannabis. The company has a brand of dispensaries, each of which is referred to as a “hi Dispensary.” The first one opened in Portland, Oregon. They offer opportunities for others to open their own “hi branded” dispensary in one of the many medical or recreational cannabis states.

Cannabis Sativa, Inc. Awarded Patent for “Ecuadorian
Sativa” Cannabis Plant
MESQUITE, NV / ACCESSWIRE / December 21, 2016 / Cannabis Sativa,
Inc. (OTCQB: CBDS) announced that on December 20, 2016, the
company’s subsidiary was awarded Patent PP27,475 for a Cannabis Plant
named “Ecuadorian Sativa”.
“Equadorian Sativa” has been shown in laboratory testing by Steephill Labs to
have a Limonene level that is extraordinarily high at a level of 4.53, 10 to 20
times the usual range. This sets “Equadorian Sativa” apart from other varieties
in its odor, the effects on mood and mentation and its medical qualities.
The objective of the breeding, which produced this novel plant strain
nicknamed “CTA”, was primarily to develop a plant having the following
characteristics: (a) medicinal properties that included hypotensive activity;
(b) psychoactive properties that motivated and energized, rather than
creating lethargy, sleepiness, and (c) increased food consumption.
Anecdotally, there are indications that its use may prevent some cancers
and may cause apoptosis of cancer cells in vivo. There is a good possibility
that the high levels of limonene may slow down the build-up of plaque in
the arteries and reduce the effect of low-density lipo-proteins on the
circulatory system. Indications are that “Ecuadorian Sativa” has many
medical qualities that make it an important tool to maintain health and deal
with illness.
“Our patience is now rewarded with the issuance of Patent PP27,475”.
“This patent will open up new areas for research and opportunities for
CBDS”, said CEO Mike Gravel.
This plant was derived from a female said to be of a strain called
colloquially, “Celestial Temple Sativa” an individual grown in Ecuador that
as a solitary plant reached a height of 23 feet. The male parent is said to
have been of a strain known colloquially as “Island Sweet Skunk”.
The Company’s President David Tobias said, ”This is a major
accomplishment and is a tribute to the foresight and perseverance of
management to solidify Cannabis Sativa’s contribution to the maturing
Cannabis industry.
Happy Turkey Day! In the holiday spirit, here's a Seeking Alpha writer ( who quit his job as a meat cutter to
work "doing research" and writing on Seeking Alpha). Just goes to show ya!

well said!
Smart choice! Pot stocks typically run hard at election time and with Oregon going recreational, the entire sector should get its semi-annual boost
You Bet! Gary killed it on CNN yesterday re: Hillary.... - so much so that they cut the feed - and when he came back - he did even better !
Gary Johnson endorsed by Detroit Free Press !
Normal profit taking on a nice run-up. Gary Johnson has a full page ad in today's New York Times by the way!
Shorters are crying hard today!
Next stop $4.00
Where's the pump? You see a news release we haven't?
Yeah we like it!!
Yep, onward and upward!
CANNABIS SATIVA INCORPORATED (OTCMKTS:CBDS) Shorted Shares Decreased By 3.93%

Dr. Sanjay Gupta disses DEA decision - saying that the permitted marijuana research will result in misleading info (as usual). The targeted beneficiaries of the DEA denial of reclassification will be big pharma (who are already positioning). Small companies will be the ones leading the fight for equity and the CBDS board is built to do just that. Below is a link to Gupta's article on CNN:
Gupta: DEA's missed opportunity on medical marijuana "(CNN)
There is really just one salient question when it comes to today's decision by the Drug Enforcement Administration to expand the number of growers of research-grade marijuana while still not changing the scheduling of marijuana: Will this decision make it significantly easier for scientists to study the medical benefits of marijuana?
The answer sadly is: unlikely. And this is a missed opportunity that could further delay potential therapies to countless people.
How about that!!!! Thanks SPARK and keep sparking' em!
Todays DEA refusal to reclassify marijuana has been tumultuous for CBDS but recent news points to refuting the sturid decision...
While the United States government refuses to admit the cannabis plant has any real medicinal benefit, its position has not prevented federal health agencies, over the years, from approving synthetic versions of the herb’s psychoactive component to be used by Big Pharma in the treatment of serious conditions.
In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), one of the primary barriers in the grand scheme of nationwide legalization, recently approved a liquid variety of synthetic tetrahydrocannabidiol (THC) that will be sold to people suffering from AIDS and cancer.
It was revealed earlier this month that Insys Therapeutics is gearing up to go after a piece of the medical marijuana market, one reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with a new FDA-approved form of dronabinol. This first-of-a-kind liquid THC synthetic, set to be stocked on pharmacy shelves under the name Syndros, has been given the green light for the treatment of “anorexia associated with weight loss in patients with AIDS, and nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conventional antiemetic treatments.”
You mean you can buy low - sell hi? Sorry - that was a feeble attempt at a play on words!
Cannabis Sativa, Inc. has products at Magnolia Wellness in Oakland, California - easy to go online and view the menu or look at the hi Dispensary on Powell St in Portland, Oregon or order CBD Water from Wild Earth Naturals which indicates to me that CBDS is a real company. As far as getting info on the denial, its absurd to think that a fully reporting company would lie about a filing. For what reason? typically those kind of splits result in a win-win for ALL shareholders insiders and outsiders. Research some-they're available online. FINRA makes those decisions final for their own reasons....LIKE THE DEA!!!
Gary Johnson wants to LEGALIZE marijuana - not research it. CBDS Board member downing is a part of LEAP -Law Enforcementr against Probation - the research is in - we've all smoked it - now de-schedule it!
Yeah and OH GEE they're going to let the UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI continue to "research" and keep making Irv Rosenfeld schwag joints.....gimme a break...the idiocy is unreal that the excuse the DEA makes is a FDA copout! Speaking of cops, they're the ones that are happy today as they can keep on arresting marijuana patients and users at the drop of a Mississippi hat - keep filling up the prisons and stamping license plates and making the private prions stocks fat and healthy on the government dole of $150 a day for locking up nonviolent pot smokers....a Trump move for sure!
NOT De-scheduling is GOOD news? Only to law enforcement, prisons and every pro-alcoholic and entity that profits on illegal cannabis!
Good for cannabis companies? HAHAHAHAH --- OMG

Here's the link to Gary's interview on Bill Maher -
Gary Johnson was on the Bill Maher show Friday night; Bill said he hopes he makes it to the debates..
this company has been idle for a minute...
anybody here?
I'm with you - CBDS hasn't taken the toxic funding and made the stupid moves like MedBox or Pineapple Express or Growlife/Phototron or....on and on and on....if the folks here ever tried to deal with pompous canna-entrepreneurs they might understand the difficulty in working with money glazed stoner owned enterprises that think every canna-business is worth multimillions in negotating to make successful acquisitions. Heck, they want to burn one and get behind the wheel! I think CBDS has shown some fight and will continue to do the same this summer and certainly the election based Gary Johnson stuff can't hurt the PPS!
KUSH is no longer a division of CBDS - its been spun off. FINRA has the onus to make the timeline for this deal to be trading publicly and they don't have a horse in the race. I'd wager that CBDS shareholders will be happy campers in the long run but the wait can be frustrating….
The quiet before the storm? Summer marijuana shows are about to roll out in Cali and I expect the CBD water would be a good seller in San Bernardino at High Times in the sizzling heat for all the dabsters!
