I haven't posted on TAS in a while or updated what I did with my position since Sept--- as I've only been watching TAS & rare earths since September 2014, when I chose to get out on the little move up back into .70's. I had added a 2nd time @ .50's so with my avg I snagged a slight profit, and fortunately I didn't do worse.
Back around Sept I thought they were ready to reverse much more toward approx 1.00+, and since then I don't have much of a valuable opinion on this area. Only thing I suggest is that it is possible they have a bear market rally around Jan-Feb 2015 after recently hitting new lows and once tax loss pressure is also gone.
Otherwise it is & has been mostly desolation with these rare earth stocks. They are very overdue and some times I time them right, but right now it is just a side ways decline. But consider a trade off of these recent lows for a potential trade in Jan-Feb for a short term rebound, which is all I can tell you from my view.
**And keep a short term mentality; Such as a few weeks (less than 2-3 mos)... Don't get trapped holding them long term. Stay vigilant & active on these types of stocks. Place your speculative goals reasonable, and know when you may need to cut them loose, so you don't have a major loss while attempting to make a trade on them.
What is your take on TAS? When it can move in .85 or 1.00 range?
TAS looks to have come off 2 recent drops here, and looks like it (along with REMX) is on the verge of moving upward finally as have been waiting for.
Should get .85-1.00+ on his eventually for a trade.
When the sector (REMX) bounces upward & rips higher, you will likely see TAS follow suit. REMX fund hit new low again (today) and is super oversold. It would not surprise me to see 1.00+ on TAS for this next upside for a trade.
I already posted it is a sector issue (see REMX fund). TAS, etc, often has good corrections every 3-4 months which have always been buying opportunities.
And this time in latter September is best buying opportunity since April 2013 in comparison. Very very oversold here.
And I was here @ TAS buying back in June 2014 using same strategy, and it paid off (see posts here for proof).
hello everybody,
falling 50% in the month on no news. Do you have an idea ?
thanks.
Adding more to TAS
Getting cheap!!!! Time to start buying today!!
TAS is getting cheap again!! So is the whole sector (REMX, REE, AVL, QRM, MCP).
I particularly like swing trading TAS. It has nice periodic up-down volatility and also nice assets in Sweden/Europe region.
Looks like TAS has got some life today
TAS hasn't been the same since the merger fell through.
TAS made a good trade. 25% was nice
.80 was good spot to buy it seems as of end of day June 12!!
It's hitting my .80 area. Could be good spot to start scale-in entry.
Anyone looking at entry soon? Got price buy targets in mind for bottom?? Getting oversold. My buy possibility is near .80. But I've seen lows last year toward .50, so it is also possible.
For short term trading, it seems like .80 approx a good start point to buy.
Yes you are correct on that point
my 3 picks to watch are TAS, UUARF, and QRM. All for different reasons.
UUARF and TAS are strong leaders, both have strong Mining company background or support and both have the potential for political and National interest. These are strategic metals that no one wants to Chinese to hold us hostage with.
QRM- as Canada is the more friendly to mining interests. The environmentalist in the US and Europe are myopic
All have good potential, but I like TAS quite a bit as one of my favorite rare earth miners soon at these developing oversold levels.
how do you feel about TAS, others QRM UURAF
Been a year and a lot has changed yet not so much.
TAS seems to have more pps participation than others.
Tommy are you still in TAS?
Nice recent price rise- also in the Alaska one us----
QRM - which is the one I put the best odds on
any ideas
TAS nice volume rocking >>>>>>>

$TAS - Tasman and Flinders Announce Merger Negotiations to Create a Diversified Critical Metals Company
http://www.tasmanmetals.com/s/NewsReleases.asp?ReportID=615552&_Type=News-Releases&_Title=Tasman-and-Flinders-Announce-Merger-Negotiations-to-Create-a-Diversified-Cr
Vancouver, Canada - Tasman Metals Ltd. ("Tasman" or the "Company") (TSXV:TSM) (Frankfurt:T61) (NYSE-MKT: TAS) and Flinders Resources Limited (TSXV: FDR) ("Flinders") are pleased to announce they have initiated preliminary negotiations with regard to a potential merger of the two companies (the "Potential Merger"). Under the terms being considered, Tasman may acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Flinders for consideration of common shares of Tasman based on a yet to be determined share exchange ratio (the "Ratio").
The Boards of Tasman and Flinders believe the project portfolios of the two companies to be complementary, with both companies focussed on the supply of critical materials to traditional and high growth sectors of European industry. Tasman's primary focus is the Norra Kärr rare earth element (REE) deposit in central-southern Sweden, one of the world's largest known heavy REE projects, with additional work underway on the nearby Yxsjöberg tungsten project, historically northern Europe's largest tungsten producer. Flinders is developing the Woxna flake graphite deposit in central Sweden (the "Woxna Project"), which is on target to be one of the first projects in the junior graphite industry to begin production, scheduled for the 3rd quarter 2014.
Within Europe, there is a substantial degree of overlap between the industrial consumers of REE's, tungsten and graphite and all three materials are considered "critical" by the European Commission under the Department of Enterprise and Industry's "Raw Materials Initiative". The Boards of Tasman and Flinders believe a merged entity will provide a larger market presence, provide operational efficiency, and deliver a much stronger voice in the global critical metals sphere. Furthermore, the combined company may have greater liquidity and, given Tasman's US listing, may generate interest from institutions looking to gain long term exposure to a range of critical metals.
Mark Saxon, Tasman's President & CEO states, "The contemplated merger of Tasman and Flinders would bring together a portfolio of assets that fits very well with the needs of European industry. We believe the unique nature and excellent potential of the Nordic REE, tungsten and graphite assets speak for themselves. We are confident that Tasman will benefit from the skills the Flinders' team is gaining in the development of a mining asset in Sweden and through the negotiation of sales contracts for its flake graphite. We believe the proposed business combination will assist in our goal to become the "supplier of choice" for secure and ethically sourced critical materials to Europe."
Blair Way, Flinders' President & CEO states, "This contemplated business combination of Swedish assets will create a significant critical minerals company. It is anticipated that the combined company will provide marketing and growth synergies in addition to wide ranging cost efficiencies. We believe Flinders' near term cash flow, project development and operational expertise can support the next stages of Tasman's growth, while the addition of a major asset like Norra Kärr would provide Flinders' shareholders with exposure to another significant critical metal asset. The proposed combined company has the opportunity to become a sector leader, with potential to grow by adding aligned assets to this larger critical metal business."
The Potential Merger is subject to a range of conditions, including, but not limited to, an agreement between Flinders and Tasman on the appropriate Ratio based on the guidance of their respective financial advisors, and Tasman and Flinders entering into a binding definitive agreement containing customary terms, including representations and warranties, as are standard in a transaction of this nature. In the event that a definitive agreement is entered into between the parties, the closing of a Potential Merger will be subject to additional conditions precedent including, but not limited to, shareholder, regulatory and court approvals, and other consents and requirements as are required by applicable governing laws and stock exchange policies.
Nick DeMare is an officer and director of both Tasman and Flinders. Mark Saxon is an officer and director of Tasman and a director of Flinders. Michael Hudson and Robert Atkinson are directors of Tasman and Flinders. Mariana Bermudez is an officer of Tasman and Flinders.
Tasman and Flinders will issue further information about the Potential Merger in the near future. However, there is no obligation on the part of either Tasman or Flinders to consummate a transaction relating to a Potential Merger or to enter into a definitive agreement. No definitive agreement has been reached between Tasman and Flinders and there can be no assurances that any transaction relating to a Potential Merger or otherwise will result, or as to the terms thereof.

$TAS - Tasman Achieves High Recovery in First Metallurgical Tests From Olserum Heavy Rare Earth Element Project, Sweden
http://investorintel.com/rare-earth-press/tasman-achieves-high-recovery-in-first-metallurgical-tests-from-olserum-heavy-rare-earth-element-project-sweden/
Tasman-Metals-LtdAugust 14, 2013 – Vancouver, Brititsh Columbia (Source: Marketwired) – Tasman Metals Ltd. (“Tasman” or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:TSM)(NYSE MKT:TAS)(FRANKFURT:T61) - Mark Saxon, President & CEO, is pleased to announce results of the first phase of metallurgical testing on representative mineralization samples from the Olserum heavy rare earth element (REE) project in Sweden. Magnetic separation and flotation tests completed by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) in Outokumpu produced a mineral concentrate with REErecovery in excess of 90% within a concentrate mass between 6% and 7% of the original sample. This represents a very encouraging increase in REE grade of approximately 14 times. A very high grade magnetite concentrate was also produced as a by-product during testing.
This metallurgical research, and the ongoing testing, was conducted and paid for under the European Commission’s EURARE research project as was press released by Tasman on July 17, 2013.
Olserum has a published Canadian Institute of Mines (“CIM”) resource of inferred and indicated categories as described most recently by Tasman in our press release dated July 23, 2013. Olserum is enriched in the high value heavy REEs with a HREO/TREO (heavy rare earth oxide/total rare earth oxide) ratio of 34%. Mineral Liberation Analysis (MLA) has determined REE mineralogy for Olserum to be a simple combination of the phosphate minerals xenotime, monazite and rare apatite. Tasman recently submitted an application for a 25 year Mining Lease for the Olserum deposit.
“With the financial support Tasman receives under the EURARE project, we have been able to advance the metallurgical research at Olserum with minimal cost to the Company,” said Mark Saxon, Tasman’s President and CEO. “This new set of processing results is a significant step forward, with the concentrate quality and REE recovery approaching targeted levels. We look forward to what the next stages of optimization can deliver for both the REE and magnetite concentrates.”
A well selected and homogenized sample of 75 kg of drill core was provided to GTK for metallurgical testing. Core was selected from across the deposit and is believed to reflect grade and mineralogical variation well. Following a series of grinding tests, a suitable grind size was determined to be -75 microns (P80 75 microns) which was achieved by rod mill.
A testing flow sheet of low intensity magnetic separation (LIMS) followed by REE mineral flotation proved to be the most effective, for which 6 tests were performed. In addition, direct flotation of biotite was tested but did not improve quality or grade of the REE concentrate sample.
As anticipated, the LIMS was extremely efficient in the separation of magnetite from other minerals present. In Test 8 the magnetic concentrate comprised 2.93% of the rock mass and showed a grade of Fe 65.5%, being very close to the iron content of pure magnetite.
The best REE recovery results were obtained where highest REE recovery was achieved in the lowest concentrate mass (mass pull) as described below:
Test Concentrate Mass
(Mass Pull) Ce Recovery
(%) La Recovery
(%) Y Recovery
(%)
3A 6.80 % 88.4 % 88.8 % 92.7 %
3B 8.42 % 89.6 % 90.1 % 93.8 %
8 5.99 % 87.9 % 85.3 % 91.2 %
The above results are the first from rigorous metallurgical testwork of the Olserum deposit and can be considered highly encouraging. Recovery data for all REEs is not available at this time, however heavy REE recovery is anticipated to follow Y recovery due to chemical and physical similarity.
Additional testing is underway to improve the proposed flowsheet and better understand the processing behavior of the Olserum mineralization.
Samples submitted by GTK on Tasman Metals Ltd’s behalf were analyzed by XRF at Labtium Oy’s laboratory in Outokumpu, Finland, where duplicates, repeats, blanks and known standards were inserted according to standard industry practice. The qualified person for the Company’s exploration projects, Mark Saxon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tasman and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and Fellow of Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, has reviewed and verified the contents of this release.
Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) includes: La2O3, Ce2O3, Pr2O3, Nd2O3, Sm2O3, Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Tb2O3, Dy2O3, Ho2O3, Er2O3, Tm2O3, Yb2O3, Lu2O3, Y2O3. Heavy Rare Earth Oxides (HREO) includes: Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Tb2O3, Dy2O3, Ho2O3, Er2O3, Tm2O3, Yb2O3, Lu2O3, Y2O3.
