Since 2001 GPSI founders have been conducting research, compiling primary and secondary consumer data and producing Stored Value products that meet the very specific needs of a select group of targeted markets. Stored value cards are a hybrid financial instrument, most similar to a bank checking account debit card. However, there is no bank account, only a cardholder account. These cards can be used for payroll purposes, as an alternative to traditional bank debit and credit cards, as fundraising tools, and as a way for un-banked and under-banked individuals to reduce risk and access products and services.
Global Pay Solutions will become the leading global provider of stored value cards and their associated financial services for the rapidly growing population of under-banked and under-served immigrants living within the United States and their friends and family abroad. Stored Value Cards and related services represent one of the fastest growing market segments in consumer finance, and to date this market segment has been grossly under-served.
The Company is specifically not technology driven. GPSI is primarily composed of sales, marketing and advertising professionals whose goals are to leverage their collective distribution channel experience to maximize sales and revenue. The Company’s approach to managing a variable-cost business model utilizing outsourcing on a "grow as needed" basis allows the company to maintain a strict cost containment directive and manage a low capital requirement for company overhead. Increases in expenses are directly proportional to sales and account acquisition. The Company’s unique product approach provides for the integration of both domestic and international bank card issuance through a common transaction processor - allowing GPSI to process international transactions in real-time, as well as creating a single interface between commercial (Payroll) and retail SVC products.
About Stored Value Cards:
Stored value cards are one of the most dynamic and fastest growing products in the financial industry. Anyone who makes purchases with a merchant gift card, places phone calls with a prepaid telephone card, or buys goods or services with a prepaid debit card is using a stored value card. Certain types of these cards are being heavily marketed to lower-income consumers, especially the unbanked or underbanked. These cards may provide consumers with a more effective means of accessing funds and making financial transactions than cash.
The stored value card market is growing and evolving rapidly. According to industry estimates, more than 2,000 stored value programs are available, with roughly 7 million Visa- or MasterCard-branded stored value cards in the marketplace. There are approximately 20 million users and that figure is expected to more than double to 49 million users by 2008. In 2003, stored value cards were used to make $42 billion in transactions. By 2006 over $72 billion in stored value transactions are expected. Experts put this industry in the introductory or early growth stage of the product life cycle, suggesting that there is substantial growth potential in the years ahead1. These industry figures include all stored value cards, such as multipurpose general spending cards, payroll cards, government benefit cards, child support payment cards, merchant gift cards, and telephone cards.
The TRIO Card:
Integrates Cell Phone Top-Off, Prepaid Long Distance and Complete Signature and PIN based transactions into one reloadable, reusable instrument. Through the MasterCard/Maestro/Cirrus and STAR Networks the TRIO card can be used throughout the World at over 900,000 ATM’s and over 1,200,000 retail locations. Through licensing agreements, NON US banks can produce the TRIO card for distribution as payroll products in literally every country. Future arrangements will allow for retail distribution of the TRIO card.
