On September 19, 2017, Bob Evans announced that it had signed a definitive merger agreement with Post Holdings, Inc. Terms of the deal call for shareholders to receive $77.00 per share for each share of Bob Evans stock they own.
Sorry to learn that, I-Man. There's no location near me so I've lost tabs.
Did used to enjoy it for lunch when I worked in NJ- many years ago.
Everything eventually changes. Venerable Friendly's out of my state of Mass was recently gobbled up.
And what New Englander doesn't remember Brigham's Ice Cream..
MG
They need to get back to what first put them on map, and STOP cutting quality for bottom lines - otherwise they might just as well join Waffle House for a bad greasy stomach acing experience...
And their dammn coupon thing is only way they will get people in, just like RT is trying to do and stay afloat...
Well as long time lover of BOBE food for years, whatever the hell they are doing recently at restaurants makes us NOT want to eat there again. That is how they are raising revenues,. Using lower quality crapp like fake cheese and such that makes your stomach ache after trying to each food. Increasingly greasy like a Waffle House experience!!!
I did get to their Fall Festival for first time this past October and had fun- but their restaurants are getting away from what Mr. Bob Evans created his food to be IMHO, and right now, I cannot go back to another. Most recent bad experience for entire family was the I-40 Hickory, NC restaurant in fact...
Cashflow models show BOBE has small upside prior to earnings
Valuation Analysis
BOBE announced Q4 earnings of $0.48 per share (vs. $0.42) at 6/14/2016 4:01:00 PM ET
Bob Evan Farms (BOBE) reported better than expected adjusted earnings per share for its third quarter and revenues that were in line. The company's 2016 adjusted earnings per share guidance was in line.
Bob Evans ($BOBE +0.13%) slid nearly 5% in after-hours trading after it lowered guidance on its fiscal 2016 revenue estimate to $1.35 billion from a prior view of $1.33 billion-$1.39 billion, below consensus of $1.36 billion.
$58.98...can we have a $60?
Love Bobe, wish I could eat there today.
Looking back, I hit the bottom....again...lol
Love it!
$42 to $52
Glad I doubled down recently...expansion into a visionary plan is necessary.
Earnings not impressive by my first quick look...I can see why major shareholders complain...
Screw facebook, they ought to use LinkedIn as a better professional resource.
YOU are 100% correct.
New hands would turn this around...YUM#?
Going private is a good possibility since they are having so much trouble pleasing shareholders. If they do not get it together in their processed foods plants side of the business it will be really bad for them since this is a large portion of their revenue. My son no longer works for them. He now works for Ocean Spray. He loves working there unlike when he worked for Bob Evans.
I got el pollo locco ipo and near open the other day...BOBE is a great family restaurant yet not in my area...used to live in Michigan and would like to visit once in a while andni have only good memories.
I could see this going private to one of the shareholders who has been complaining.
BOBE I like the products that they sell in stores. They used to be Owens and they changed their name to Bob Evans after they bought them out...which was probably a mistake since Owens was a more well known name. I never have been to one of their restaurants since they do not have them in my area. Yes they probably are a perfect buyout candidate for the processed foods side of the business....maybe Pilgrims or Tyson. Seems to be the year for buyouts. Never know who owns what anymore.
My wife works for them. She knew an assistant manager that moved up to GM.... He came back to her store to be a server..... This is a *hitty company as far as I'm concerned. Instead of management scanning facebook for their employees posts. They ought to focus on professionalism and customer service. IMO
I suppose you are onto some of the issues of one of the larger shareholders...I see a great brand, yet cannot visit as it is so far from my home in California.
Do you see the family run company ever selling out or changing to suit the shareholders that is filing complaints?
To add credence to your post, a Manager here (Hickory, NC region) recently after many years, quit her position and went back to being a Waitress; because of the stress applied on her from the top, and she enjoys talking one on one with her customers now. Said she will never be Manager again for BOBE.
Also, I am bothered seeing portions cut down so much and prices ramped even higher, that we have ceased going to BOBE as we used to regularly do.
I will double down at $37 if it goes that low. I just remember the positive experience. Good memories.
Bob Evans is a poorly run company. My son works for them. Its the same old story. The people running the company are all friends...not necessarily hand picked for knowledge of the business. Must be the American way these days. The new management team that took over six years ago have not done a good job. There are far more efficiently run companies out there to invest in. JMO
I like the stock here at $47.20
Earnings are alright. Cash flow looks great.
Support looks to be at $47, looking for it to hold and hopefully pare back some of the losses.
$50.19 getting hungry for more Bob Evans Breakfast and greenbacks.
$47.23 with loss due to poor north midwest weather, looks like some downward pressure will benon BOBE manana...oh, though how I would trade a nice Bob Evans meal for a day in sunny California.
I let half my shares go upon law suit news and will look to add them in around $40.
Always get hungry when l read about this stock...smells like bacon n eggs.
detearing, I'm from Indiana so I will send you some. Do you prefer USPS, FedEx, or UPS? Hahaha!
I may have to go get some BOB EVANS...l'm in California so it is a long flight...
Weekly stockcharts.com looking ok. I will double down at 50 ma at $47.38 area or hold...

Higher than expected year-over-year increase in sow prices, and other short-term cost impacts reduced diluted GAAP and non-GAAP EPS by approximately $0.27 per diluted share. Growth and transformation-related expenses impacted diluted EPS by an additional $0.05 per share
Company updates fiscal year 2014 non-GAAP EPS guidance to incorporate accretion from expected impact of share repurchases of approximately $0.09 to $0.11 per diluted share; guidance range set at $2.60 to $2.65
Bob Evans Restaurants completed 66 Farm Fresh Refresh remodels during 2Q 2014, 126 completed year-to-date; remodel program to be completed by the end of fiscal year 2014
BEF Foods’ 2Q 2014 net sales increase 10.6%, driven primarily by sales mix; volume up 0.2%
Company announces $50 million expansion of fiscal 2014 share repurchase program; program now totals $225 million for fiscal 2014
Company reaffirms long-term annual non-GAAP earnings growth guidance of 8 to 12 percent and 5-year non-GAAP net operating margin improvement guidance of 300 to 350 basis points
NEW ALBANY, Ohio – December 3, 2013 – Bob Evans Farms, Inc. (NASDAQ: BOBE) today announced its financial results for the fiscal 2014 second quarter ended Friday, October 25, 2013.
Second-quarter fiscal 2014 commentary
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Davis said, “The confidence we have in our ability to successfully execute our growth strategies, and reap the benefits of our recent transformational growth investments in Bob Evans Restaurants and BEF Foods, is reflected in our announcement of an incremental $50 million for share repurchases. This increase brings our expected share repurchase activity to $225 million for fiscal 2014, and our forecasted year-end fiscal 2014 leverage ratio to approximately three times adjusted debt to EBITDAR, our previously announced target. We believe a three times leverage ratio is a prudent level of leverage that will allow us to invest in our businesses, return meaningful capital to shareholders, and maintain flexibility for acquisitions.

“Furthermore, our updated fiscal 2014 non-GAAP earnings per share guidance range of $2.60 to $2.65 including the accretive effect of the share repurchase, reflects our confidence the Company’s transformational investments will transition from generating net costs during the first half of the fiscal year, to generating net benefits during the second half of fiscal 2014. The new workforce management initiative and accelerated Farm Fresh Refresh remodeling program at Bob Evans Restaurants, and the Lima, Ohio, and Sulphur Springs, Texas, plant expansion projects at BEF Foods, are fundamental to achieving our five-year 300 to 350 basis point operating margin improvement goal in each of our businesses by fiscal year 2018.”
Davis continued, “At Bob Evans Restaurants, we completed 66 Farm Fresh Refresh restaurant remodels and opened our second Bob Evans Express location at our corporate headquarters. Additionally, we restructured and strengthened the Bob Evans Restaurants marketing team to more effectively leverage the sales growth opportunities enabled by the Farm Fresh Refresh program and our new restaurant prototype design. Finally, we opened a restaurant in Finneytown, Ohio, that embodies the important elements of the Farm Fresh Refresh remodeling program, while also incorporating new, more modern, design elements that will ultimately reduce building construction costs by an estimated 10 to 15 percent.
“At BEF Foods, we completed major plant expansion projects at our Lima, Ohio, refrigerated side dish manufacturing facility, as well as at our ready-to-eat production facility located in Sulphur Springs, Texas. We also announced the closure of our Richardson, Texas, fresh sausage production plant, reducing our fresh sausage plant network to two facilities with sufficient capacity to meet our anticipated volume needs. The cumulative effect of the BEF Foods’ plant closures, capacity additions, and other efficiency initiatives we have announced during the last two years is expected to add approximately 250 basis points to the segment’s operating margin during fiscal 2015. Unfortunately, we were also negatively affected by a $0.9 million profit impact due to lost sales, and increased costs associated with a supplier dispute related to BEF Foods’ side dish business. Despite the impacts of record high sow costs which negatively impacted the quarter by approximately $9 million on a year-over-year basis, growth and transformational investment-related expenses, and our supplier dispute, we remain committed to driving our growth strategies and achieving our long-term 8 to 12 percent average adjusted annual non-GAAP earnings growth guidance.”
Second-quarter fiscal 2014 consolidated results and GAAP to non-GAAP reconciliation
The following commentary addresses comparisons to financial results as presented in fiscal year 2013 when Mimi’s Café was a component of the Company’s ongoing operations. The Company believes this allows for enhanced understanding of the transition from fiscal year 2013 results to fiscal year 2014 results. Mimi’s Café operations have been classified as discontinued operations during fiscal year 2014, and will be reflected as such in the Company’s second quarter Form 10-Q filing, with fiscal year 2013 financial statements recast to reflect the discontinued operations.
Bob Evans declairs quarterly dividend of .31...thanks for the extra bacon Bob!
detearing, I understand now! UM can still come back on that game! Though I believe Mr. Buffet's holding of Bank of America (BAC) is even better. Though (BAC) and Bob Evans Farms Inc. (BOBE) aren't even in the same realm.
I'll also be following you for now on.
Buffett's football team is NE. Mine U of Michigan. Buffett's BRK biggest KO investor.
detearing, Coca Cola Co. (KO) is another good one. Who is Buffett's football team, KO?
BOBE moves slow like KO, but l like the brand and upside potential. Buffett's football team beating mine...watching...on commercial break.
detearing, slow indeed. Beta shows us that it's 18% less violate than the market. Though it can be boring, the old saying, "Slow and steady wins the race" can be said with the stock market as well. I personally wouldn't wait too long here. I have a feeling that Bob Evans Farms Inc. (BOBE) will beat earnings est., sending this higher.
I must add, not just here on this board, but other boards. I noticed you seem to have a Peter Lynch style investment approach. Using basic logic as to company growth, sometimes logic that I feel most investors look past. Which is great to use, though. You are true, Baby boomers will be retiring soon and we all know how much they love their breakfast in the morning.
